Brooklyn courthouse wedding guide

Looking for a Brooklyn courthouse wedding? Civil ceremonies are booked through the Brooklyn City Clerk Marriage Bureau. Start with the weekday appointment, then choose the portraits and celebration around it.

Where your Brooklyn civil ceremony takes place

For this civil wedding, book the Brooklyn City Clerk Marriage Bureau. The office is in the Brooklyn Municipal Building at 210 Joralemon Street, 2nd Floor, Room 205, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Check the location and entrance instructions on your appointment confirmation.

City Hall and courthouse are common search phrases, but the ceremony appointment is with the City Clerk. Borough Hall portraits or a visit to another courthouse building are separate location choices.

Book the license and ceremony separately

Obtain the marriage license

Book a license appointment through Project Cupid, in person or virtually. The usual waiting period is at least 24 hours before marrying, unless a judge grants a waiver. The license costs $35 and is normally valid for 60 days.

Book the weekday ceremony

City Clerk ceremonies require an appointment Monday through Friday. Book the ceremony separately through Project Cupid, keep its confirmation and follow the office instructions. The civil ceremony fee is $25.

Plan the witness, guests and photographer

Bring the required identification, a valid New York State marriage license and an adult witness with valid ID. The City Clerk’s announcement allows four accompanying attendees in addition to the couple, including witnesses. Plan your photographer within that group and confirm entry instructions.

If you would like Elope Me’s photographer to be your witness, request the published no-additional-charge option in advance so the team can confirm the arrangement. It does not add another attendee place.

Build the portrait route from Joralemon Street

Begin with the office appointment and an agreed meeting point. Decide whether you want portraits close to the ceremony or a separate Brooklyn setting, then allow for walking, transport and time with your people.

Share a short group-photo list and any mobility needs. Discuss weather and the next reservation before choosing a route. Confirm the office’s camera and entry instructions for your appointment; a photography booking does not guarantee access.

Considering waterfront portraits afterward?

Brooklyn Bridge Park can be a portrait option to discuss, rather than an automatic stop after the ceremony. Check the journey, your preferred setting and the park’s current photography process before putting it in the timeline.

A wedding event and a professional photo session have their own permission arrangements. Use the park’s official wedding and photography pages for the activity you are planning. A waterfront portrait plan does not establish a park ceremony booking.

Brooklyn celebrations with their own settings

Compare Brooklyn photography plans

Choose the photography around your actual day

The stories above show a Garden wedding and a restaurant celebration, rather than a Brooklyn City Clerk ceremony. Martha and Tyler paired Brooklyn Botanic Garden with family brunch and an evening with friends. Jenna and Steve centered their Frank’s wedding on dinner, dancing and film photographs.

For your Clerk ceremony and portraits, compare JUST THE TWO OF US at $1,850 and NYC CLASSIC at $2,700. Share your office, appointment and portrait ideas so we can discuss a workable route. The license, ceremony, travel, venue and permit costs remain separate arrangements.
